After other Governor Councillors closed public access to hearings, Marilyn fought and restored the people's right to know.

WHY WE NEED MARILYN: OUR FULL-TIME GOVERNOR’S COUNCILLOR

MARILYN IS NOT A LAWYER!

Marilyn take her position seriously!

Marilyn take her position seriously!

The Governor’s Council traditionally has had a majority of members who are lawyers – who by law, are allowed to appear before the people they have voted for- (enhances their law practice.)

The Governor’s Council is most important as it is the checks and balances for the governor.  If the council votes no – that person does not take that position.

What is the governor's council? what do they do?

the governor's council and state LEGISLATURE were Established in 1780

 We vote on:

  1. Judges
  2. Clerk Magistrates
  3. Parole Board
  4. Industrial Accident Board
  5. Appellate Tax Board
  6. Industrial Accident Advisory Board
  7. Vote weekly all State expenditures
  8. Pardons
  9. Commutations
  10. State Administrators
  11. Justices of the Peace
  12. Notaries

Marilyn is a true leader

Serving The state

Marilyn has actively worked for her district representing 32 towns and cities opening up the Governor's Council to the people. And she has the best attendance record of all Councillors!

progressive leader / lifelong democrat

Marilyn knows the value of being connected with the people of Massachusetts. She is the only councillor who has met and continues to meet with every nominee from parole board to judge, over a 1,000 to date.

voice for the people

Marilyn is not a lawyer.

FACT: Lawyers who are Governor's Councillors by law are allowed to appear before the people they have voted on, i.e. judges, clerk magistrates. This benefits their law practice. They are also allowed to vote on friends that are nominees.
